It was a lovely family adventure and quest! That is awesome! The jaspers around there are gorgeous! And the green cherts are beautiful too! The missy green jasper-agate with the red and yellows and oranges is soooo gorgeous! And all those rocks that look like chunks of marbled meat are so stunning! And the landscape rocks, Wow! I would love to see you take even one of those big ones and go to town on it! your imagination is so marvelous to see come to life! And of course the gorgeous bowenites! The different colors of them are really pretty! What a great quest! Thanks so much Nate! Quest On❣️

It is so good to see you on my feed . I am the one that is in Mt Shasta and been watching you for a very long time. You have got to be kidding me that Olive is a Senior in High School now !~~ Makes me feel so old! So many fires going on around here. Not too close but close enough you usually make a trip up here to Shasta during the summer some time. I know you have done Rockhounding around Lake Oraville before and this Shelly Fire is coming up from Chico to now almost ShingleTown and its a nasty fire, already up to 300,000 acres in just a few days :( Again its so good to see you. A nice light in my week of constant hurdles and challanges that are taxing my well being. You and Olive are always a fresh breath of air !! Xoxo

California has a lot of green rocks- serpentinites, jadeites, hydrothermally altered basalts.

How can you tell the difference between bowenite and serpentine?

Wow great finds, what a fossil paradise! So many there to find. Love the garden too.

What a truly wonderful area and a giant toy box or fossils! And I do believe you are correct. Those round ball like and mushroom top ones are all heads of the sea Lily's! They are the crinoid calyxes, just very different then what we are used to seeing. There are many different size and shapes of crinoid calyx and with the extreme passages of time that your site represents, you are bound to see some things that look vaguely familiar to you and some things that look completely alien, but can all be in essence, the same creature or family of creatures even though they look vastly different from each other! That's one of the things I like most about fossil collecting! And you have so many wonderful branching corals and what look to be like horn corals too. And just because you have never seen these particular shapes of sea lilies, doesn't mean that isn't what they are! I've seen many different types of crinoid calyx and that doesn't mean that is the only kind there is. Over the millions and billions of years that the crinoid has been known to exist, and still does to this day, it has evolved and adapted to learn to survive and thrive , in the worlds oceans. And there are many recognizable and non recognizable ones too! Thanks for sharing your wonderful treasure spot and your love of fossils too!

Man there are some places like this not far from me. I totally forget what area you are in but I would enjoy a hounding pal sometime! I have much more free time the next few months before winter hits to finally get out there! Have a few events like the Lodi gold event I might be going to as well! Hello from Northern California! I hunted fossils with a group between Grass Valley and Colfax. I did not find any plant fossils, but found a beautiful piece of petrified wood. I wire wrapped the stone and it is now a necklace. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful place with us! Bright Blessings and Many Smiles!

These fossils can be older than when our ancestors started walking upright. And they are found anywhere a shallow sea was. They are the inspiration for stories from many cultures very old stories and inspiration still today .many star wars characters

I love your channel and hadn't watched in a while... but I must say I am a bit shocked that you are collecting archaeological artefacts. You know the rules... collecting "for safe keeping" is not a good excuse. These pieces in situ would yield a lot of information, yes, even (and precisely) when they are on the edge of a river or stream.

Earth is so beautiful but we’re stuffing millions upon millions of tons Of trash and junk every day and bury it into the Earth how long can the Earth sustain that. I’m not one of those wacky wacky climate change people but I do see where people are really making a big mistake when it comes to the planet that we’re living on. After all it was a gift from God we’re supposed to care for it not destroy it.

Also,thank you for pinning it down a bit more. Serps and jade are so fiddly to identify sometimes!I like your channel.Not in your same county,but we have similar terrain,so it is nice to see stuff in the wild.
